You don't pay extra for it being Roku. You do have to pay for channels though.. like you would buy HBO, Netflix and Hulu. You can subscribe to lots of different channels. And the remote is a Roku remote, but you can download the Roku application on your smart phone or tablet and this will serve as a remote as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No cost for Roku. You'll pay extra for the services like Netflix, Hulu, etc. I use mine for Playstation Vue to stream live TV which is extra. It comes with a remote but its very basic.
