QuestionHow do I know what SSD will be compatible with this laptop? Thanks!

- Answer Just bought this computer for my son. I was hopeful based on the design that it possessed a M.2 Slot for SSD drives and it does! The slot only fits a M.2 - 2280 stick because there is only one mounting screw port present. I have included some photos to show everyone what is underneath. I placed a M.2 PCIe SATA Crucial MX300 275GB stick in the M.2 slot and it recognized and boots on the drive with no problem. The motherboard recognizes the drive as SATA 1 with SATA 0 being the 2.5 1TB drive that came with the computer. So I now have the 256GB drive running the OS and the 1TB drive that came with the computer (2.5inch WD Slim drive) as a storage drive.

- Answer Windows 10 automatically makes a recovery partition on the Hdd. This way the whole computer can be reset without the use of external media. Of you want to there are guides online on how to make an external backup that will reset your computer to baseline. Google is your friend!

QuestionIt says that the graphics card is "integrated," but lists it as NVIDIA GeForce 940MX with 2GB memory, which I thought was a dedicated card. How is this possible? I need a laptop with good graphics, so this is very important to me.

QuestionI've read that the maximum RAM is 12gb. If I get the model with 8GB, can I upgrade to 12GB? Is there 2 slots or 1? Is there a 8GB and a 4GB on the 12GB models? Thanks!

- Answer This model ships with 12GB memory; 4GB is onboard and the one memory slot has an 8GB memory stick, which is the max supported in that slot.

Questionturned the volume up on the speakers through the settings and I still can't hear without headphones in.......

- Answer Make sure the playback device is set to speakers under the Sound properties. When you plug in headphones, Windows sees them and you can then hear sound from the headphones. When you unplug the headphones it should default to sound coming from the speakers. Make sure the speaker settings are not muted. If there is still no sound from the speakers, we suggest the system be serviced to check the speakers.

- Answer Yeah they do if anything the volume is set on low like mine were the volume button is right next to the power button or you could do it from the settings

QuestionHave any of you noticed when on a black screen such as booting the system up and seeing the acer logo that the black levels are not consistent? Meaning some edges and corners cast a brighter black almost like a brighter white.

- Answer Sorry it took so long to respond. This product uses an M Lock slot, not designed for Kensington lock slot. This M Lock slot is similar to the design on existing Smart Phone or Tablet products. You should be able to purchase a thin iron/steel wire to fasten notebook like a lanyard style lock.

- Answer I prefer Linux as well. I normally dual boot my PCs but this time I decided to try virtualbox and installed Ubuntu and allotted it 4GB of ram which is way more than enough and both the host and the guest are running wonderfully. I just got it today so this weekend I plan on trying a live version of Kali and am anxious to see how it runs with having the entire 12GB of ram and I'm sure I won't be let down.
