But you can connect an external USB optical drive to your Chromebook so you can watch movies, etc. Apps like VLC can be installed so you can play your DVD's.

This is a great device if you are a student or retired person (like myself) who wants an inexpensive device to access applications on servers (thin client mode) and do basic functions like email, bill paying and research.
