If you are doing basic task like browsing the internet or watching a video yes. If you are doing any gaming or putting any workload on the laptop no. I had it directly on my lap while playing tetris connect and it got pretty warm. The laptop wasn't too hot but the exhausr on my legs was hot. I would recommend a lap desk or barrier. I checked the laptop and it was at about 72 degrees C. When i finished playing.
