This is a bone-conduction headset. The sound does not enter through the outer ear and middle ear. The sound is conducted through your jaw bone and into the inner ear, bypassing the outer ear and middle ear. So this is perfect for the hearing-impaired.

This is a bone conduction device which circumvents the usual function of sound through the ear canal but instead vibrates through the cheek bones. If there is significant internal damage to your hearing, you might be able to feel sound but still not clearly hear sound.

Sound gets to the ears normally by vibrating the eardrum which the various parts of the ear translates into discernible sounds. Most of this happens with the cochlea. Bone conduction vibrates the cheek bone which is picked up by the cochlea, bypassing the eardrum and some other parts. Even then, it may or may not make voices distinct to your ears. It all depends on your type of hearing loss. You could give them a try if the store's return policy will let you return them if they don't work out for you.
