QuestionWill the unit power up its self to do time recordings and then power off, or do you have to leave the unit on for timed recordings?

- Answer I have been just leaving the unit on--even when not watching TV. I record some late night programs. Having said that, I think the first program I recorded, the unit may have been off. It's kind of a science experiment. I did experience a hick-up when we switched to Daylight Savings Time--another "clock" to change!

QuestionMy first playback of a USB recording is fine. During repeated playbacks I get a message box on the screen: Start Resume [EXIT]:Cancel. When this message appears I lose control of stop, play, pause etc. Why does this happen and how can I get around it?

- Answer The Co-Axial Cable from your antenna gets screwed into the threaded input post titled 'RF IN' at the far left on the back of the unit' To get to the TV, you use one of the other plugs (RF Out, Co-Axial or preferably HDMI) depending on what input your tv has

QuestionI noticed the screen on my converter box does not light up anymore. The cord is plugged in and all the wires are connected to the box. I only had this box for 3 years. Do I need to buy a new box?

QuestionPart 2. If I leave the box on (after setting a recording for the future) it does record even with the TV off. I guess I’ll have to set a reminder to turn on the box unplug and reinsert the USB on the day I want to record.

- Answer I have exactly the same problem. I've tried both a USB HDD (2TB) and a 32GB flash (both formatter per directions) and timed recording doesn't work, only works manually. Customer support was responsive, but couldn't offer any solution. The suggested 'software update' is not possible because there is no way to obtain a file from Aluratek, that I can find.

- Answer Mine died after 6 weeks so I'd consider other brands. Their customer service people were incredibly rude and I had to ship it back to Aluratek at my expense.

- Answer I do not think so. The USB drive (32GB or smaller) is mainly for recording your TV shows, but you can play media directly from the card but not from a stereo receiver.

- Answer It works well for me. Did you buy an HDMI cable that goes from the tuner box to the TV? and did you do the same with a coaxial cable? The Aluratek allows me to watch a nice array of channels including most of the major networks except for ABC.

- Answer The manual (pg 15) says that Flash Drives need to be formatted FAT32
