The battery takes a good 30 minutes to fully charge, and it lasts my toddler about 4 hours before it needs to be charged again. If she isn't on it much, then the battery will last for days. We take it with us in the car and on long trips. This has actually been a life saver in the car when my 2 year old is bored. She loves having her own little tablet. It's very toddler friendly as well, my daughter can play the apps and select her movie without any issues. I would suggest getting the extra storage card- after we download 1 movie and a couple Dora episodes, the storage is pretty much full. Yes, you can definitely take it on an airplane. Best tech gift my daughter has ever gotten.
