For most things on there you need an internet connection. SOme things are downloaded right to the tablet and can run without internet. We have also bought videos through amazon video for the kids (peppa pig, bubble guppies, etc) and downloaded straight to the tablet and those can watched without an internect connection. It does take some time to download stuff, it isn't the fastest thing in the world. If you are going on a trip, you need to load it up the night before. We've also used our phones as mobile hotspots while traveling for internet access for the tablet, that seems to work pretty good and doesn't chew up data.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You will need internet access to set it up and download the books, games, and videos that you want to use. I have used my cell phone as a hotspot to fix that "oops" moment where you find that you forgot something.
