• Yes You can. The Kindle software is the same across all platforms so if you use Kindle on your Ipad and download a free book, it automatically downloads on your Kindle 6".

• yes you can download free books .. but in apps since is quite new the 6th generation the offer for apps is limited

• I haven't tried to download from the library but have a friend who downloads library books to her Kindle all the time.
