• The Kindle snaps into the case, which covers the long sides completely. The shorter ends are open, but there is a slight lip and two small bumpers molded in, which provides some additional protection. My guess is that it would survive a drop from a table to a hard floor if the case was closed. If it was open the screen would be at risk depending on how it landed.

• It's a bookcover-type case, so it mostly depends on whether it opens on the way down or if it falls on one of the cover sides - A fall from 1 meter or less striking the covers will probably be okay, but I can't say what would happen if the cover opened and it fell directly onto the screen itself.
