It is rechargeable battery. You just have to recharge everytime.

Please try again later.I purchased 2 of these devices and the rechargeable battery lasted about 1.5yrs but when I needed a new battery I tried to purchase one from Amber Connect but they said to buy it from where I purchased the unit. I went to Best Buy (where I purchased unit) and they do not carry the battery only. I have searched at specialty battery shops, Amazon and E-Bay and found nothing, so once you're battery is dead you are S.O.L.
