You do not say what motherboard you are trying to install this chip into, that would have been a better question. I had a AMD Ryzen 3 2200G in an ASRock B450M PRO4 AM4 motherboard, replaced the CPU with a Ryzen 3 3200G and after bios/UEFI update it worked well, finally I replaced the CPU with a Ryzen 5 3400G. Really do not know what you are referring to 4 vs 8 pin. AM4 motherboards are compatible with all three CPU's in this range, and many more Ryzen chips. Ryzen 3 2200G Ryzen 3 3200G Ryzen 5 3400G JR
