  • QuestionWhen mounted outside, how far above the roof should the antenna extend. Any further suggestions for outside mount to get the best performance?

    Asked by Mary.

    • Answer Broadcast digital tv signals travel by line of sight. Any obstructions like buildings, trees and terrain that block that line-of-sight digital signal degrade the signal. Again with digital it is mostly all or nothing. Generally if antennae is mounted where there is a minimum of obstructions, the better. Try using an app like antennapoint to determine which stations you can receive and to properly aim your antennae. Again this is a great antennae, but will work best when most broadcast stations are generally in one direction from your antennae. You may need to experiment to determine what works best for you. In our case, there was solar panels and concrete roof tile that I did not want to damage, so mounted antennae in attic as high up as I could reach 6’. Reception is really clear, but may degrade in winter when roof is wet and signals may have a harder time to reach antennae. Hope this helps.

  • QuestionHow long is the amplifier cable, and does it need to be installed closer to the antenna, or the tv, or somewhere else? What gauge is the coax cable (RG59?) and how long is it? Thanks.

    Asked by Randall.

    • Answer Hello Randall, the amplifier cable is 5ft. and can be connected directly to a USB port on your TV or you can use the USB power adapter with any standard wall outlet. The amplifier should be installed downlead by the TV. There are setup instructions inside the ClearStream 4MAX Complete box with detailed instructions and an illustrated diagram to setup and install the antenna and all the components. We provide RG6 coaxial cable and it is 30ft. in length. We hope you decide to purchase this exclusive item at Best Buy. Thank you!

  • QuestionWhat’s the range/miles it goes up to ?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer 70 miles, and even though I live in a valley, I surprisingly do get one channel from that distance away. Plus I live in a apartment, so I mounted it to a small table I put on my porch and I still get CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX plus 11 more channels. If you mounted this on the top of a house on a rotating mount with a ground wire, I can’t imagine how many channels you could pull in. I love mine and it saves us $150 a month for overrated cable or dish.

  • QuestionI have a Samsung TV and in the process of cutting the cord. I now currently have just internet from my provider. I assume this antenna gets connected to Antein on the TV. If I have no setup box where do I plug the internet coax cable ?

    Asked by JD.

    • Answer Hi JD, thank you for your question! From the cable service point that is leading into the house, run one direct line from that cable service point to the modem. Remove the coax line from the splitter used by the cable service and use a barrel connector to connect the coaxial cable to a dedicated line going to the modem. Then, connect the coaxial cable from the antenna to the existing splitter. All TVs connected to the existing line in your home will now have over-the-air broadcast signals. Remember to scan for channels on all the TVs in your home. If you need any further assistance, you can chat with us online at antennasdirect.com or call us at 877-825-5572. We are available 7 days a week to assist you!

  • QuestionIf I disconnect my satellite dish and install the antenna in its place using the coaxial cable that is feeding 3 tv's now will the signal work from antenna?

    Asked by Mikee.

    • Answer Hi Mikee! Thank you for your question. Yes, if you had cable or satellite service, you can use the existing coax running through your home to split the broadcast TV signals to multiple TVs in your home. You likely need to replace the splitter in the distribution box, usually located outside your home, with a full-range splitter. Oftentimes, cable/satellite providers install a splitter that have filters built-in to eliminate unwanted frequencies. We suggestion testing the antenna in the location where you would like to install the antenna by connecting the antenna directly to your TV and perform a channel scan. Be sure the antenna is facing the correct direction towards the towers and then do a channel scan. If you are receiving all the available channels, you can start the process of splitting the signals. For more in-depth instructions, give us a call toll-free at 877-825-5572. We are here 7 days a week to help! Thank you.

  • QuestionCan you connect up to 4 tv's to this single antenna?

    Asked by Multi.

    • Answer You certainly can, however, the splitter provided will only allow you to split the signal to 3 TVs at a time. Most of your local retail or hardware stores will have a splitter with the correct number of ports needed to split the signal between 4 TVs at once. If you need any assistance with assembly or installation, we are here to help 7 days a week. Thank you for your question!

  • QuestionDo I need to ground this antenna?

    Asked by 007jms.

    • Answer Hi there! We do recommend grounding your antenna or mast during installation according to The National Electrical Code Article 810. Every state has different requirements and since we are based in St. Louis our local electrical codes for our location would be different from your location. We do not show grounding installation in our videos due to this reason. For grounding information, you can read our guide here https://www.antennasdirect.com/cmss_files/attachmentlibrary/pdf/Grounding-Info.pdf and then contact the NEC, a local licensed electrician, or a local electrical inspector for details in your local area. Thank you!

  • QuestionWill this antenna work for camping?

    Asked by Ruby.

    • Answer Hi Ruby! You should have no issues using this antenna while camping. Keep in mind there are many factors to consider when using an antenna in multiple areas. All locations and terrains are different, and signal reception varies in each location, depending on where the towers are located and obstructions between the antenna and the available towers. We have a free app called Antenna Point you can download to your iOS or Android phone. Once you arrive at your destination, the app will identify your location. You will see the towers in the surrounding area, so you aim the antenna in the right direction to pick up the TV signals. Also, make sure the antenna is as high up as possible and that you re-scan for channels at each location or every time it is moved. If you have any questions, please call our tech support team Monday-Friday at 877-825-5572. Thank you for your question!
