- Answer This unit cannot supply enough power for the average 1/2 HP motor but it is close. Even if it did work the battery would not last very long when the motor was running.

- Answer This unit is limited to 900 watts and can only supply that for about 10 minutes. For your needs you will need to go to a higher tier of UPS with much higher prices. This APC unit is reliable but your load is just too much for it. You will need something in the 1900-200 VA range and with larger batteries to hold up longer.

QuestionAs the unit is a 1.5kVA! How does that translate to Wh? Is it a 1.5kWh or is it some other unit instead of 1.5kVA?? Note that a 1.5kWh would supply 1.5kW for 1 hour or 1W for 1,500 hours

- Answer The 1500VA rating is the peak power the device can supply the RMS power which typically what your devices are rating for is 900 watts. The batteries in this device are two 12V 9AH which is 24 * 9 = 216 WH. Since you cannot use all of that power, at best the UPS will last about 10 minutes with a 900 watt load. For a device like a computer that can shut itself down this UPS can supply enough power to get through a short power problem and can shut your computer down properly for longer power outages. This UPS comes with a cable and you can get the software for free to do the automatic shutdown. While this UPS a excellent unit that will last for many years, UPS devices in the size have relatively small batteries so generally it will just get you through a short outage or until you can fire up a generator. A trick is if the load you want to use is less than 700 watts the 1200VA unit will do the trick and uses that same batteries so it will last the same amount of time.

QuestionI have an electric powered recliner. Our power goes out during the night when I am sleeping vertically. How do I figure out how much run time with this item does the battery have? I bought a battery/surge protector from Best Buy with 1 hour of power.

- Answer Thank you for your inquiry. The runtime would depend on how much power the chair pulls. If you are getting 1 hour of runtime on the UPS that would mean the chair is pulling around 100 watts of power. It isn't a lot of power draw but if you are looking to get more runtime from an UPS you would need to look our SmartUPS Extended run units. An example of one the units is our SMX1500RM2UC. This unit would allow you to connect additional battery packs to the UPS if you are looking to get more than an hour of runtime.

- Answer UPS devices in this class can last hours under light loads but generally they are not designed for holding up loads for long periods of time. This problem is the limited size of the batteries that can fit into these units. UPSes with larger batteries or the ability to add additional batteries tend to get pricey very quickly. A possible solution could be to split up your loads across multiple UPSes.

- Answer Yes, easily. Now, how long will be your next question. If this and one cable modem are the only things running, you will get 193~210 minutes. Example: My wireless router is ROG Rapture GT-AX11000, it is setup efficiently and I manage 193 minutes in a blackout. I mention efficiently because with WIFI routers if you have it turned up (Signal strength low/med/high) to reach a dead spot or onboard CPU (1.8Ghz quad or faster), high traffic load and big memory usage. These will all affect the power draw on the unit. Share the load across two units and you can be in the 240 min range (not everything plugged into one unit)

- Answer You will typically get about 2 hours of runtime for your load though that will go down over time as the batteries age. On the positive side small loads on the device will tend to make the batteries last longer as they will run cooler when needed to supply power. I would guess that the coax filter will probably passthrough but I have never tried it so I can't say for sure. Due to the shielded nature of the coax it generally won't need any additional filtering. The RJ45 connector on these units was designed for phone and network connections and is probably much more useful for phone lines.

QuestionI have Arris TG1682G Router/Modem from Comcast/Xfinity. I work fully remote off a laptop. What's the BEST UPS compatible for my router that will give me the MOST battery time. I only plan on plugging in this router to it. More hours the better! Thanks!

- Answer Any UPS in this power range will typically have the same batteries and would easily handle the load you need to power. If fact I would suggest the 1350VA model as it has the same batteries and is still more than enough power for your needs. While the 500 VA can supply enough power it uses a single battery instead of two so your run time would be much lower.

- Answer This UPS would power your CPAP for 2 to 5 hours depending on the model, the settings, and if you are using the heated humidifier. The biggest problem I see for use with a CPAC is the beeping that happens when the power goes out. With some work the beep can be disabled.However when the battery is run down to a point it can not longer supply power it will beep even if other beeps are disabled. This could be a good thing by waking you up when the CPAP is no longer working.

- Answer Thank you for your interest in our products. Yes the BN1500M2 would have a data port on the back of the unit that you can use to connect your computer to the UPS. This allows you to setup the computer to gracefully shutdown in the event of a power outage. There is also USB ports on the front of the UPS that you can use to charge your phone or other devices. The USB ports on the front would provide power in a power outage until the internal battery runs out.

QuestionWhats the purpose of these exactly? Like if I just have a computer for rec use and gaming is there any benefit further then the surge protector side of this that would help/save my system in an emergency? I guess im a bit confused and new to this. Thanks

- Answer I bought this battery backup/surge suppressor because of the frequent SCE electrical outages. I worry that sudden loss of power would damage the computer and/or cause loss of data. I use it to keep the computer, monitor & internet router up during electrical dropouts.
