“Can I use the AirPods to listen to the radio on my iPod Nano ? The iPod uses the ear plug wire as the antenna. Will I get any reception without the ear plug wire? Do they have some kind of antenna that can be plugged in?”

It won’t work on what you have. You can purchase a Bluetooth adapter for your iPod but a lot to carry so trade in and get a iPod with Bluetooth

AirPods won’t work with the nano as far as I know.

No unfortunately the connection to wired ear buds is how it works. AirPods use Bluetooth.

If your device has a blue tooth connection they will work.
