Q: QuestionIf put one in car will it be traced easily if car were stolen?

• A:Answer I’ve got one hidden inside my car for exactly that use in mind. I’ve disconnected the Air Tag speaker (ifixit has a disassembly guide on their site: I removed the magnet that’s glued inside, so it won’t alert a car thief to its presence). My car must pass by another cell phone to update its location, but I live in the city, so that’s no problem. I’ve set it and left it in “lost mode”, since it’ll update its location more frequently (other iPhone users must physically tap on my Air Tag to see a programmed message: it’s impossible they’d do that, since I buried it under the dash). “Easily” is hard to say, but I think of it like my poor man’s GPS auto theft recovery device (although GPS is more accurate, GPS devices require a $40 monthly subscription fee).

• A:Answer AirTags use other iPhones to provide location data. The AirTag's range is unlimited provided that there are iPhones nearby. Within Bluetooth range, Precision Finding will show you precisely where and how far away the AirTag is (on iPhone 11 and 12).

Q: QuestionCan this be used on pets. mine are already chipped but that has to be physically scanned. can this be used in helping find a lost or stolen pet (i would guess if stolen the person would discard it anyway, but that would be an area to start looking)

• A:Answer Although I agree Tile made Bluetooth trackers mainstream, Apple isn’t just copying Tile, the key here is the use of Ultra Wideband. With the U1 chip, Airtags and iPhones (11 and above) have the sense of direction that Bluetooth trackers do not have. This makes them much more accurate. Also, Apple has more than a billion devices in their network, making it much better than Tile for now.

• A:Answer Yes, but also no. It will show the location but eventually it will pop up on his phone letting him know that an airtag that doesn’t belong to him has been near him for a while.

• A:Answer As long as there is an iPhone (doesn’t have to be yours) nearby, it will tell you where it’s at. I sent this with my son on a school trip today and I’ve been able to make sure he’s where he’s supposed to be all day. They’re about 100 miles away from me.

Q: QuestionLooks like they’ve tried real hard to COPY the TILE but excluded feet of range and all IOS users 11 iPhone and up. Who wants such a LIMITED device when the TILE WORKS up to 500 ft then a full community helps they send replacement batteries I have “3” !

• A:Answer Still different products. Tile is device-agnostic and works only with Bluetooth. AirTags also use the ultra wideband chip in iphone 11 and 12 for extra precision. I think the USP is that it doesn't require a 3rd party app, so every iPhone is potentially able to track the location of your AirTag if it goes missing further than your iPhone range as they walk past it.

• A:Answer Hello, the airtag will work with all iPhones that support iOS 14, the thing that doesn’t work with all iPhones and only the 11 up, is the precise finding, witch is where it shows a cool hollow gram and directing you, the reason for this is because the newer iPhones have the U1 chip, but you can still find your things will other iPhones!! • A:Answer Hello Gigi, the tile and airtag are both great trackers, but the difference is the airtag (apple) has their own “u1” chip so the iPhone and airtag work together to find your things precisely, also, if you were to loose your stuff, the airtag uses other apple devices around to send you the location of the airtag around the world to your iPhone, the tile relying on other tile users, witch apple has over 1MILL+ devices vs tile users, the airtag has anti tracking features to let you know if your being tracked as well. If you have an iPhone, I highly recommend the airtag as it works well and better with your things and you can find them around the world.
