Apple Air Tag is powered by a replaceable and inexpensive C CR2032 coin sized battery available anywhere in the world. Battery life can go as long as a year but I’d suggest changing the battery every 6 months to prevent an issue when you really need to use the search function. The signal gets very concise as the Air Tag is approached. My son dropped an Air Tag in his car and I’ve found it’s exact location - under the passenger seat mount of his new car, I won’t be pulling the seat soon and will allow the battery to fade over time. At least I know it’s his car and his Air Tag.
