Nothing. You could only use it to access iTunes paid content. Best to join Netflix, Hulu, Amazon etc for content. All 3 would cost less than $30/ month. Sling, Direct TV Now etc can add live channels cheaply and you could add an antenna if broadcasts are available in your area

Given you have an internet connection however, an Apple TV can stream tv to a connect, well TV, from a constantly growing number of sources; Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Video, HBO Now, DirecTV Now, Sling TV, amongst many others including individual network broadcast channels. A lot of these services are subscription based, but reasonably priced when compared to cable, others are free like Crackle and Haystack.

What I do is access to some movie websites and stream the whole content into apple tv. It works great.

May of the apps that you can download requires you to log into the tv provider if you want to watch live tv or their on demand items. There may be a few apps that don’t require this and will give you free content but, mainly the apps will require you to log in

So you can stream Apple content, movies, Netflix, and a host of other Internet-based TV apps. Many of them require a subscription or can be accessed via your subscription to a cable service you have.
