• Yes you can use it on your Samsung... You are really duplicating some of the capabilities... for instance both devices will enable Netflix. Advantage of Apple TV is connectivity with other Apple products.

• AppleTV has it's own Internet connectivity. All you need is an HDMI cable.

• The Apple TV is only HDMI so your entertainment center or TV must have an open HDMI port
