I use hdmi to the tv then optical from tv to sound system. Works great
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are two ways you can accomplish what your trying to do. 1) If your receiver has HDMI inputs you can directly plug the ATV2 and TV into it and use your receiver to handle the output to the TV both audio and video. 2) If your receiver does NOT have HDMI inputs. Your option could be to use the audio out from your TV (ie. RCA or TosLink) and input it into your receiver. Then connect the ATV2 to your TV via HDMI. This will allow the video from the ATV2 to played on the TV and the audio routed to the receiver.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have my Apple TV hooked up via HDMI straight into my Denon AVR-1312 Receiver. Then I hook up my Denon to the TV via HDMI. So, my Apple TV only works through the surround sound receiver and it sounds fantastic. You didn't say what type of connection you have on your Yamaha Receiver, so I can't fully answer your question. The Apple TV only has an "HDMI out", so if you don't have an "HDMI in" on your Yamaha, then no, you can't. I highly recommend the Apple TV be hooked up to a surround sound receiver because it sounds very good for movies and music.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have mine hooked up through my TV via HDMI and through my receiver via optical audio output. That way I can control my device via my iPhone without having my TV on and still listen to music. It has those two options on the box. As for your specific internet DVD player if it has either an HDMI input or an optical audio input then I don't see why you couldn't run your AppleTV through said dvd player.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can hook it up to your receiver just like any other audio device. You just need to make sure your receiver has the proper inputs for the device that is accessing it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am sure you can. It has an HDMI output that you can plug directly to your TV or Sound system. Of course, your system has to support an HDMI input in the first place which most of them do.
