Yes. The AppleTV uses wifi to communicate with devices such as iproducts and computers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it uses this to network your Apple TV, computer, and other apple products... Dose not have to be an Apple router though
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can hard wire it into the router
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. If your computer is connected to your home network with a cable, then use a network cable to connect your Apple TV to your wired home network. This is assuming you have a wired router/switch in between your cable (or dsl?) modem and your computer. The Apple TV would then be connected to the router/switch in the same fashion your computer is. If your computer is connected directly to the cable (or dsl?) modem, you will need to invest in a wired router/switch to get a port for the Apple TV to connect to. This means you will need to disconnect the computer's network wire from the cable (dsl?) modem, plug it into the router/switch along with the Apple TV, and then plug the uplink port of the router/switch to the cable (dsl?) modem. In this instance though, I would recommend you get a router/switch with built-in wireless if you had to buy the hardware anyway! Wireless routers almost always come with built-in 4 port switches so you can plug your computer into it just as mentioned above and then connect to Apple TV via wireless (this would save the hassle of running a cable from where the Apple TV will reside to the router/switch if they will be some distance from each other).
