Yes, The USB transfer device will allow you to transfer your files from the 1 TB hard drive, as long as the drive is still functional. This device is designed for these kind of applications (i.e. you want to upgrade your computer to a larger hard drive or transfer files between drives). Of course you would also want some compatible software to transfer your files which I'm sure a Best Buy associate could help you with.

It depends if your bad drive is corrupted. My drive was not completely corrupt so I was able to retrieve most my stuff. Also make sure it’s the correct cord.
