I bought mine in April and asked these same questions at the store. They assured me everything was better. My experience is better than what other people had with the earlier releases. Cameras seem to need to be closer to the base station than the arlo pro 2 system. But otherwise, they are working fine. I am only using the cameras with power cords, as the cameras are hard to reach, and I don't want to keep charging up the batteries.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Several updates have been completed since initial release to address problems, bugs, with the original system. Installed my system a couple of weeks ago. Have not experienced any issues with setup, connectivity, and/or quality of service.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just tried to set up the new Arlo Ultra cameras. They do not work. The old ones work great. I read several posts online and this is happening to a lot of people. I would not buy the Ultras.

Please try again later.Not the greatest product and far below what I expected but to answer your question Yes, all the Arlo Ultra products in this kit update their firmware to the newest as you set them up for the first time. IIRC you can’t even opt out of the firmware updates, it’s part of the setup process.
