• I called Optimum before the purchase and they confirmed that it is compatible with their services. Just call them to activate the device. Working great.

• My experience is only with Comcast who just raised the rental fee for the modem they provide. As a result I bought my own modem, the Arris TM822R. I returned Comcast's modem to them. It was an Arris TM502G. I was on the phone with Comcast for about 45 minutes to get my modem activated on their system. It's working fine now. Can't answer the question about Optimum.
