First, You have to talk to internet service provider, they will ask you for MAC address of Modem, so they are able to send signal from their servers to your new modem within the cable network to link it to your account. then, you have to setup all parameter of WiFi password, and very recommended change the user and password that comes as default for security reasons. finally, if you are not happy with the speed or performance once activated, call Arris customer service like me, I did to setup several options to take the best performance of It. Good luck.
