“Overwritten OS? I keep getting messages stating certain functions and programs will not work because they aren't available or compatible with Windows 10. I am wondering if I received a refurbished machine, or if this is how all of these laptops are.”

I ordered my Asus with Windows 7 preloaded because I couldn't stand Windows 8/10. I would "suspect" that your machine originally had Windows 7 loaded on it and it was later upgraded to Windows 10.
