“Where are the speakers located on this laptop? My girlfriend has an ASUS laptop and the speakers are underneath the laptop. I want to know if the speakers are on the bottom of this as well because that is not practical for me since I often have the laptop on my lap.”

The speakers are located on both sides. The edge is beveled and its towards the front side if the laptop. It shouldn't get blocked even if you are using it on your lap. I often have mine on my lap, too, and I have no problem with it. Though, this laptop has week speakers. I suggest you get a bluetooth speaker. The Insignia one ($25) is good and affordable.
