“Faulty computer? I have had nothing but problems with this computer since I've bought it. It freezes, constantly gives me an error message of CRITICAL PROCESS DIED, and takes way too long to boot up. Also, when I did a system restore, it froze completely at one point while installing the drivers and I had no choice but to hold the power button to restart it. (It was froze for over 20 minutes at the same process). When I tried to install updates to Windows it froze several times during that as well. I'm about ready to return this. I didn't pay over $1500 for this plus tax and other software to go with it to have a headache like this! As a side note, I noticed on the back of the laptop where the Asus name is lit, it looks like a piece of fabric or something blocking the light partially over the "u" and "s" Could it have been dropped? It came out of the box like that.”

I would return it. I've bought two of these as well as one of its predecessor and none of them had those issues. I believe you have a defective unit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know about the ASUS and being dropped. Boot up time is about 20 secs with original hard drive. If you put an SSD drive in it goes down under 10 secs. If you turned it on and have freezing, I would return it for another, it could be a bad hard drive and if it was dropped that would make sense. I paid 849 on sale. The other thing would be that the OS is corrupt, but I would think a factory restore would fix that unless it too is bad. I would return it, mostly hard drive issue. You could run a check disk on the drive and see if there are any bad sectors... Good luck
