I can't answer about Lana's review (link?) but it appears to be regular hard drive sounds, possibly amplified by the aluminum case. The sounds aren't that loud to me, a cat purring in my lap easily drowns the sound out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had some noise, but not from the speakers, it was the Hard drive spinning. I changed the Hard drive anyway to a SSD, this solved that plus make the system faster running and boot up.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You might have a speaker problem. First unit I brought home from the store had a problem with the right speaker. As soon as I discovered it, I contacted the store where I purchased it. They had me return it for an immediate swap. Very professional!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The crackling sound is coming from the hard drive's spinning wheel as it is 7200 RPM not 5400 RPM. If you don't like the sound, then I suggest you go out and buy a new SSD and slap it in your laptop. SSDs are quiet and does not make a sound.
