Yes, you could damage the bottom cover because there is something that holds the center of it in place. You will also need to clone the hard drive. The supplied 5400 rpm HDD makes this machine sluggish. I replaced with Samsung EVO SSD and now it flies!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The back cover is a bit hard to release, you think it will bend the metal, however it will release. After the bottom plate is removed, the hard drive swap is simple, just remove the screws for the hard drive, place the new SSD in the hard drive bracket, and secure the bracket back into the hard drive bay. Nice thing with Windows 10 you can do a clean install, with a USB key. My install was flawless and easy.
