The so-called LED displays on the market today use white LEDs to backlight an LCD, whereas older LCD monitors use florescent lamps for backlighting. They are both types of LCD monitor.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The backlight. Simplistically, an "LED" display is an LCD display that has bright white LEDs to provide the backlight, rather than a fluorescent tube. LEDs thus consume lower power, tend to be thinner and lighter & should last longer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The difference is the backlighting. LED uses LED backlighting technology, but it's still LCD monitor. To avoid confusion, it's called LED monitor. LCD monitor, on the other hand, uses CCFL backlighting.
