One of the minimum requirements to play a BD 3D disc is a 2x and up BD-ROM optical drive. This model has 8X read so it’s more than enough. You’ll also need to have playback software, video card/3D kit and monitor that are 3D capable. No, unless you specifically see it written, do not assume it will. Since I own this model I can tell you that it does not. It doesn't even play BD movies unless you buy a program to play them through.

Mine was bluray play & burn to blu ray disk. only. 3d is bigger & more expensive [ for now ].
