Return and exchange this ASAP. There is no reason a brand new, out of the box unit, should not accept a full charge. This appears to be a defective battery and that is a hazard you should be worried about.

(One of the Geeks watched it drain 5% in 15 minutes just sitting on the counter). I also had a problem with the charger over heating. The same thing happened on 2 different units. One of the Geeks checked into it, and found a lot of power related complaints. It looks like, for some reason, Asus cheaped out on the power systems.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This seems to be a problem with this tablet. The first one we got at Christmas would only charge to 91%. I found other posts with same problem. I returned mine and the new one charges fully. Take it back.
