As you probably already know, high end processors need power to operate. I am not aware of a i7 processor laptop running at more than half capacity that will meet your desired goal. If I process photos in Photoshop and ACDSee my Asus will run 3 to 4 hours. If you really need high performance and battery life of 5 to 10 hours, I suggest you consider supplementing the internal battery with an external, when needed. That is what I do when I'm working in the field with no other charging source.

If you have all CPU running at full throttle, there is no laptop on the market that will run 5 hours. If all you do is check email and browse the internet then this one will definitely fit your parameters and then some. I do a lot of photo (pre)processing on my laptop. So far I'm getting at least 4 or 5 hours. I do not leave other apps running when I'm doing work that places a heavy demand on the CPUs. Use Task Manager to see how much of a demand you place on your system, from that you can get a good idea what kind of a load you are placing on your battery. Laptops with similar specifications will generally perform about the same. You also might like to consider that ASUS makes the motherboard for many brands (models) of laptops on the market. This is what does the work, the rest is human factors and window dressing. Ive also switched out the hard drive to a SSD. This change not not only makes a very good laptop a much better one but cuts down on battery usage. If you really need long battery life, consider an external battery pack. I use a "car starting battery pack" from Advance Auto when I'm in the field. It has a USB port and is about half the size of a paper back book. Expect about three days of hard work from it! A couple of them will keep me going for a week on a field photo shoot - and charge my camera batteries too.
