• HDMI will transmit audio, but a DVI does not transmit audio. So if it's going from a DVI to HDMI, you will not get audio. If you're going from HDMI to DVI, you will also not get audio. You need HDMI to HDMI.

• You have the option to send audio via HDMI or other available options on your computer like the standard speakers. The audio should be in sync. I am using this cable on a UBUNTU system with HDMI audio and it works flawlessly.
