Hi, there. It should not behave like that. There are different factors that weaken the signal of the range extender. It could be caused by interference in your area like thick walls or ceilings. To help improve this, place the range extender in an area where you are getting a strong wireless signal from the router away from any physical obstructions. Upgrading the firmware of your extender will also help resolve the issue.
