- Answer Yes. works OK with MacBook Pro 13" display with Mini DisplayPort (should have on your Mini in addition to HDMI) AND an external 1080p display. Not all resolutions are available though.

- Answer I believe this is active. It must be plugged into the direct port. I do not think it will work with a dock such as Dell. I have tried and could not get it to connect with the dock.

- Answer Yes, you can connect the Mini DisplayPort end of this adapter into your MacBook Air and hook up the adapter into the HDMI input on the monitor via HDMI cable.
