Great question! With a Totaltech membership items you own not purchased at Best Buy would qualify for discounts on services like battery replacement. For items purchased at Best Buy while having a Totaltech plan you would receive AppleCare automatically at time of purchase. Since the phone was purchased outside of Best Buy your Totaltech plan does extend to it but does not provide hardware coverage for damages like cracked screens it would discount the repair instead.
