Yes. Boost can request your number to be transferred to their company by contacting the carrier. They do this while you are on the line. The key is the current number must still be active when you make the request. They submit the request while you are on the line and transfer it to them and disconnect your current service all in one step. They can only make the request while the number is still active. I just had this experience myself.
