Hi azwillie, thanks for your question. The amount of dishwasher salt required depends on the water hardness. The higher the water hardness, the greater the amount of salt required. The salt refill indicator lights up when it's time to add salt. More information about this is in the Use & Care manual, available on Bosch's website.
