A:Answer When you press the ice maker switch off/then on, it should be lit and stay lit. Our 3 yr old Bosch has been finnicky as well - so to "engage" it I turn off/on to kick start the ice maker - for some reason the main board signal IMO is telling it its full of ice when its not. We had a problem early on - low ice production two/three trays a day at most. So I did a hard power reset (turned the breaker on/off) and let the fridge reset. That seemed to cure the issue.
The other issue as you may read below posts is the flex tray design is a poor one - our tray broke where the motor engaged the flex tray slot ( a very poor design with limited reinforcement on the flex tray) so I have a modification in mind when I get my new ice trays - I have two on order now and a complete ice maker too ($24 for the tray, $130 for the complete ice maker.).
The kicker is Bosch DIRECT service wanted $129 for the service call, then $40 per 15 minutes on site, PLUS parts $250 for the ice maker. Total $500-700 and our third party warranty service denied the claim - they would pay for the service call to diagnose - then the Bosch tech was to submit an estimate, ONLY then would they approve the claim. So this is when I decided to dig deeper and figure out the issue. If you are still under warranty use it -and make sure you record each issue and get a warranty extension on the part replaced in the event it happens again.
