It does actually hinder some air flow, and will definitely keep the back of your phone cold in the summer. I won't have to wait for winter to know that using this and the heater for long at all would not be advisable. If you have the option of closing the vent.. and the louvers you'd attach to still are open then thats the only way this would be sensible.

As long as you mount the device to the side of the vents and avoid most of the air, it should not be an issue. Thanks, Bracketron Support
