In most cases, yes. I use a Samsung Galaxy S8+ in a Otterbox Defender case and there's enough room for even wider phones between the arms. Won't likely work for tablets, though.

Definitely with room to spare on any of the big iPhones

Yes it should. I goes out pretty wide. I have an iPhone 10 with a case on it and there's still room for a bigger case and bigger phone to fit in it
