A:AnswerYes. Definitely the printer is compatible. I use it with my Toshiba Chromebook.
I don't know about the scanning function. I haven't tried that.
A:AnswerYou can use Image Capture to scan, but note that if you save to a jpg file the compression is set in a way that produces pretty bad results (very small files).
When I scan I save to TIFF, then do my touchup in GIMP, and finally save to jpg with a high-quality setting and the results are great. For photos 600 dpi looks really good, though the scanner can go up to 1200.
Tip: I was having problems with the scanner and my mac until I read someone posting to turn off IPV6. Once I switched to to use only IPV4, it started working great. This is likely a mac problem of some kind.
A:AnswerThat will depend on which scanning software you use.
On mac I use "Image Capture" and it has the preview feature which allows me to then set a region to scan in full resolution. (but note that Image Capture jpg output is very low-quality)
On windows I use the built-in scanning app with the blue icon and it also has a preview feature. I think it's just called Windows Scan, and you can get it in the Windows Store for free if you don't have it already.
All the applications that are designed for scanning "documents" and doing OCR don't seem to support preview mode. I only use the scanner for photos so I want that feature.
NAPS2 seems to be a good photo-scanning application that supports Preview.
A:AnswerI bought this for the same price and I'm also a senior. This has an easy setup, I run everything off of my android phone which the wireless was an easy up and running. Don't know about your laptop hook up or other questions but can't see why you'd have a problem..
A:AnswerI would check to make sure the paper-tray is fully-inserted and that the paper is sitting in the tray properly.
Also remove the toner assembly and reinsert until it clicks properly.
