• Yes, the Brother MFC-J995DW can scan documents in PDF file and Microsoft Word.

• According to specs on the Brother website, scan formats are JPEG (JPG), PDF Single-page/Multi-page (PDF/A, High Compression PDF. Not Word - that would require special extraction software. Adobe Acrobat used to be able to convert pdf to Word, but when I used it 15 years ago the results were pretty pathetic. I imagine software is better now.
