• Photos and old documents should be scanned by flipping open and placing flat on the glass to prevent damage. Regular documents can be scanned by using the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

• Documents can be scanned either on the flat surface (opening the top) or using the document feeder. Photos can be scanned.

• There is a flatbed scanner on this printer to scan photos. It does have both a flatbed and a document feeder for scanning.
