“Someone gifted their old GE care microwave /oven to us. Has range. Not exactly sure if this is what we were looking for. Have an oven already so the oven portion is not needed, but the microwave is only needed. Can this be used for microwave only on top?”

you can do microwave, convention bake, convection roast and fast cook (Microwave and convection bake together)

This is a convection oven and microwave in one. You can definitely only use this as a microwave if you’re not in need of another oven (you’ll only use the features that apply to the microwave). But it is convenient to have the option of using it as a convection oven.
