Q: QuestionWhat are the grates made of and do they need to be seasoned?

• A:Answer The grates on the CGP70362NS1 are made of cast iron.To properly maintain the cast iron grates you'll need to clean them with a stiff brush and hot water. Using soap is not recommended and harsh detergents should never be used as they will remove the seasoning. Rinse with hot water and dry thoroughly. After rinsing, preseason the griddle by applying a light coat of cooking oil to the griddle surface. Be sure to wipe off excess oil with a paper towel.

Q: QuestionI will be installing this in a kitchen island. Is venting required with this product? I'm not able to put a hood in, but have been researching telescoping downdraft vents. If venting is required, what type of telescoping downdraft vent is compatible?

Most range or cooktop models do not require a ventilation system or have a CFM requirement; however, we recommend checking the local residential codes in your area to see if one is required. If so, we'd recommend model UVD6361SPSS seen here: https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-36-in-Telescopic-Downdraft-System-in-Stainless-Steel-UVD6361SPSS/318617745 - We'd also like to mention there's a bit on page 2 of the cooktop's installation instructions that states "For island installation, maintain 2 1/2" minimum from cutout to front and back edge of countertop. If you want to convert to propane gas, the conversion must be performed by a qualified propane gas installer. The conversion kit and instructions can be found attached to the regulator.
