- Answer I would recommend going to your nearest Best Buy store and talk to a sales rep and look at all the radios they have available and which one makes sense.

- Answer A day or two if not used. The more you use them. The more frequent they need recharged. If you turn them off completely inbetween needing to use. They may last a few days.

- Answer You can talk to any FRMS or GMRS radios that are set to your frequency and are in range. The reason I like these is they have a lot of sub codes to keep people off of your frequency. Doesn't mean you won't get any cross talk from the same main channel but the subchannels lock out your transmissions to people not on your subchannel. I seldom get other people on my channel because there are so many subchannels and people within 2 miles of my radio are minimal. I only use the FMRS channels.

- Answer Don't know. Used it for travel in two vehicles. They worked ok. 5 out of 10 rating in my opinion. Range much less than stated.

- Answer I don't see why they wouldn't be. These work by relaying the radio transmission between the two radios, so no external relay antenna is needed. Each radio is acting as it's own antenna. Plus, a cruise ship is pretty small compared to the distances I've been getting out of mine, which is 4 miles. Now, that being said, I am not sure if the cruise ships have any policies against two-way radio communication due to the fact it may, or may not, interfere with their communications with ports-of-call or other ships.
