• A:Answer The installer had my car for the duration of the installation, so he had to have the key to my vehicle during that time. The remote starter does not come with a new key, the installer showed me how to properly use my current key to start my vehicle. I believe you can purchase a new key, but for me that was not neccessary. I hope that helps.

• A:Answer If your car is "brand new", you may be able to get a factory remote start since Audi and VW just started offering them on their new cars. Otherwise, I can tell you that this remote start works with your original keys, and works well. You just hit the LOCK button 3 times and the car starts. You have to use the remote to unlock the car, the proximity sensor is disabled while in remote start. The get in and press the brake and the car is ready to go. Very nice product.
